Match- Inter Miami host NYCFC
Pick- Inter Miami -118, Total Over 2.5 Goals
Inter Miami looks to take on NYCFC, probably without Messi, during our early slate of Saturday matches. While They will be without their biggest star, they will be at home with a nice mix of powerhouse stars, MLS veterans, young talent, and a proven MLS Cup winning coach.
NYCFC will show up with their usual; a rag-tag group of young players and projected talent with no cohesive team plan.
I will be betting against NYCFC all season long until they address the talent gap in the locker room and in the coach’s office. Nick Cushing is about to get run out of New York and the NYCFC fan base made it worse this week with the return of Maxime Chanot to MLS but not to New York City.
As for the total, this will be the best offense NYCFC has seen all season. I think they are getting smoked in Inter Miami. Do yourself a favor and find some Miami goalscorer props over +100 and enjoy the match.
Match- Houston Dynamo hosting San Jose Quakes
Pick- Houston Dynamo -120, Under 2.5 Goals -118
Houston Dynamo have been winning tough matches this season, going 2-1-1 early in the MLS season. Their offense has sputtered without Hector Herrera providing service, but here we have Coco Carrasquilla returning from international duty. I think he is going to play with fire after his return from Panama, while the Houston defense is enough to keep the miserable Quakes out of the back of the net.
Combined, these teams have scored 9 times in 10 matches. This under is SCREAMING “buy me” at -118, as I see a Houston 1-0 win as the likeliest possibility.
Match- Nashville SC host Columbus Crew
Pick- Columbus Crew +125
Columbus Crew is the real deal- their 3-1-1 record and dominant performances have me thinking they are going to win the Supporter’s Shield and are posed for deep runs in all cup competitions this season. This week, they see their best asset, Wilfred Nancy, return after a brief illness.
Nashville SC is exactly who we thought they would be this season, which is a team that can't break down defenses or score if it isn’t Hany Mukhtar. To be fair, he hasn’t been on the scoreboard yet this season, but that is exactly the reason they are starting 1-3-1 with only 5 goals scored. In another game without Walker Zimmerman, they are going to be defeated at home by the Columbus Crew.
On neutral ground this game is a -165 for Columbus, and here you can take them at +125 for no other reason that they are away. Throw historical trends away and take the best team in MLS with an away upset this weekend.
Match- LA Galaxy host Seattle Sounders
Pick- LA Galaxy -110
The LA Galaxy is only 2-3-0 this season, but their matches have been exciting and mostly dominant. This week they play the 0-2-2 Seattle Sounders who tried “running it back” with a roster that besides Pedro de la Vega has been largely unimproved. The traditional Western Conference powerhouse has scored only 4 times in 4 matches and has yet to find a win on the season.
One place I think LA has the biggest advantage is on the wings. The Galaxy has looked great with Paintsil and Fagundez streaking down the paintline, while their OTHER new winger Gabriel Pec finally getting some quality time with the team. They are going to tear apart the Sounders’ three man backline and provide plenty of opportunities to Dejan Joveljic. Joveljic has proven he can score when provided quality (and quantity) opportunities.
Kick Seattle while they’re down and take Galaxy as my biggest sportsbook surprise of the week- almost even money!
